Ponderings on The Devil Wears Prada

While watching The Devil Wears Prada, my heart’s always gone out to Andy. However much Nigel explains how she need not be rewarded because her job is what “a million girls would die for”, a job where your hard-work is not recognized is just not for me.
Loved a line from the movie - “Fashion is not about utility, an accessory is merely a piece of iconography used to express individual identity.”
An accessory made famous by an individual outlines what a person is made of. When aped by another, well, makes the first an icon…
According to me, Fashion has always been overrated. For years I’ve believed that a few classic designs never go outta style, look good on everybody and can be worn everywhere. The necessity of experimentation and the fuss involved in this industry has never made sense before now.
Now, I do believe that fashion is necessary and experimentation is essential in order to determine your personal style. Your clothes speak volumes about you and is a sure shot give-away of the kind of person you are. However, I STILL do not subscribe to the popular notion that fashion is not about the money you have, it’s about the style. That it’s not WHAT you wear, it’s the way your wear it. It takes money to develop your own style. Be it an expensive cocktail dress or plain good old earrings to accessorize your oh-so-plain outfit. If you do not have the money to spare and dress casually, I do not judge your personal style in a negative way. If you do have money and dress crappy, you need to contact the fashion gurus pronto!

Standing Tall

From late night drives and Saturday night parties, my preferences have changed to evenings out and movies at home. While waking up at 6 in the morning was nothing short of torture once, today I long for the fresh morning air and warm rays of the sun. while recklessness was cool through my teen years, today, I believe its cooler to care and to be aware. Changes that have never been forced down on me are happening entirely out of my own free will… Guess this is what evolution is about. Being back in the same place with a fresh and original perspective.

Am grateful towards Him for giving me the life he has, for giving me the family I have and for making me the person I am. I would never apologise for the person I have grown up to be. That’s for sure.

From a place that hurts

Should I bite my tongue to hide the fury,
Dismiss the past or conceal the pain
Or in my mind, find a sanctuary
and bottle up all that will remain?
